Universal micro control board

exhibit.jpg (5655 bytes)The Sabre Universal micro control board is a microprocessor controlled input/output module designed for programmable control of interactive exhibits and displays. Multiple units may be linked together for larger numbers of inputs and outputs using the on-board RS485 link. Control of professional lighting products is possible using the DMX-512 system. The board may also be commanded by a DMX-512 installation. The board is more reliable than PC-based solutions and much cheaper than PLC based solutions.

I/O capabilities: 16 outputs, either logic drive (+5V/0V) or 12-30V open collector outputs (up to 500mA per output)
16 inputs, logic level. 10K pull-up resistor normally fitted on each input.
Inputs may be converted to logic drive outputs if required to give an additional 8 or 16 outputs.
RS485 send / receive at any baud rate up to 250Kbaud. DMX512 protocol may be transmitted or received. Slave boards may be linked by RS485 to provide extra inputs or outputs if required.
Power supply: Module requires 12-30V dc supply at 50mA. (not including any devices on outputs). On-board fuse.
Connections: Weidmuller BL series plug-in terminal blocks. 0.5-1.5mm˛ conductor size. Terminal blocks unplug from board for ease of wiring.
Microprocessor: AT89C2051 microprocessor with 2K on-board FLASH memory (reprogrammable). 4K memory device also available. Custom software can provide any functionality.
Dimensions: 70mm x 190mm

Example applications: Interactive museum games. Shop window displays. Christmas lights displays. Interactive DMX512 lighting displays.

Audio playback module

audiobrd.jpg (7055 bytes)The Sabre Audio Playback board is a microprocessor controlled audio module designed to play short audio clips in interactive exhibits and displays. The board may be controlled by the on-board RS-485 link, or by 8 digital input lines. A 10W audio power amplifier is integrated onto the board. An unlimited number of audio clips are stored in one or more EPROMs and are created from WAV files using a supplied PC application (EPROM programmer required to write the sounds into the EPROMs). Using 22050Hz wav files, up to 3 minutes of audio playback is possible. The board is more reliable than PC-based solutions and, having no moving parts, is better than CD players etc.

Audio capabilities: Audio created from WAV files using PC application.
Up to 3 minutes of audio at 22050Hz (uncompressed) using 4x 27C801 eproms
Unlimited number of separate clips
Looped playback possible.
10W mono integrated power amplifier.
Line in and line out connections for combining modules.
Control: RS485 send / receive at any baud rate up to 250Kbaud. DMX512 protocol may be transmitted or received. Control signals can initiate playback of any audio clip and read status of system.
8 digital lines provide switch control of audio and/or module status sensing.
Power supply: Module requires 12-30V dc supply at 150mA. (audio amp at low volume). On-board fuse.
Connections: Weidmuller BL series plug-in terminal blocks. 0.5-1.5mm˛ conductor size. Terminal blocks unplug from board for ease of wiring. Loudspeaker may be connected to terminals or 3.5mm jack socket.
Microprocessor: AT89C52 microprocessor with 8K on-board FLASH memory (reprogrammable). Custom software can provide any functionality.
Dimensions: 70mm x 190mm

Example applications: Voice prompts and incentives in learning applications. Interactive museum games giving audio responses to button presses and prompts. Interactive displays using music clips with DMX512 lighting. Generation of atmospheric background sounds (bird calls etc)
